Hilden’s Style Awards 2016 are back and bigger than ever with a brand new look and a brand new category. The Style Awards are a one-of-a-kind awards aimed at discovering the unsung heroes in interior design and style within the independent and boutique hospitality and healthcare market.
Do you have a uniquely styled, quaint country B&B? We want to hear from you! Or perhaps you own a glamorous boutique hotel in the heart of a city centre? Great! It doesn’t matter where you are or the theme of your interiors, we’re looking for independent establishments or accommodation with less than 10 venues to enter into this year’s Hilden Style Awards 2016.
Each week, we’ll introduce you to the judges to get to know a little bit more about them. This week, it’s Vision Support Services’ very own Victoria Hargreaves.
About Victoria Hargreaves
Victoria has a background in textiles and currently works as the Sales Manager for the hospitality sector within Vision where she frequently meets new customers, offers expert advice and exceptional support whilst keeping an eye out for new and exciting opportunities. Because of this role, she works closely with laundries, boutique hotels and hotel groups where she is lucky enough to experience and visit lavish hotels and exquisite interiors. She’s been with Vision for seven years and has a keen eye for an interior design trend or two.
What made you decide to be a judge this year?
Working closely with hotels and groups, I see a lot of hospitality venues and so I appreciate the individuality of each one I step into. It’s always amazing to see what people can come up with to be fresh and unique and because of my long standing interest and passion for design – it’s a dream job I couldn’t say no to!
What do you think will be some key trends over the next 12 months?
Copper seems to be making a huge comeback this year as well as exotic jungle prints. Personally, I always feel that monochrome is a classic look and seems to be constantly on trend.
In a highly competitive hospitality market, how do you think the design and style of a hotel or B&B may influence one’s decision to stay?
I definitely think that customers are influenced by the style choices of a hotel or B&B. Nearly everyone goes online to view the property where they can see both the professional and guest photos and it is usually the first thing that will draw someone in. If a visitor finds accommodation that is welcoming and the designs have had thought, time and effort put into them it will certainly set them apart from a standardised hotel room.
A lot of modern restaurants don’t use table linen anymore. How important do you think table linen is as part of the restaurants design?
I believe that table linen plays an important part in the guests dining experience. Something as simple as table linen can speak volumes about the restaurant if the right style and quality is selected.
How important is stylish design within a care home setting, taking into account that it needs to be functional and practical as well?
Care home design is important but the main aim should be to satisfy a residents needs. A stylish yet homely concept works well, I think.
What do you think will set an entry apart from the rest this year?
I like a clean and modern look but with a twist to make the interior more individual and unique. New and inventive ideas are always exciting to see – something we’ve not seen before.
